Description
A prescription diet formulated with controlled mineral levels and urine pH management specifically intended to reduce the risk of both struvite and calcium oxalate crystal/stone formation (the two most common types in cats, which actually require somewhat different, sometimes opposing, dietary approaches, which is part of why an accurate diagnosis of stone/crystal type matters before choosing a specific therapeutic diet), often combined with high moisture content or encouragement to increase water intake.

Suitable For
Cats with a veterinarian-diagnosed history of urinary crystals, stones, or feline idiopathic cystitis (FIC), used as directed based on the specific diagnosis.
Cautions
A male cat straining to urinate or unable to urinate at all is a genuine emergency (urethral obstruction) requiring immediate veterinary care — this is not something to address with diet alone, and any delay can be fatal within as little as 24-48 hours. This diet supports ongoing prevention and management once an obstruction has been treated or a non-obstructive urinary issue diagnosed, not a response to an active blockage.
